The Alderist

style on a college campus and beyond

What’s next?

Originally, this tumblr was intended for original content—a street style blog dedicated to the University of Puget sound. I’ve since graduated (December 2011) and hope to be in northern Spain by September, so no more original content for awhile until Spain. So what should I do with this tumblr? I’ve been thinking about it for awhile….

I’ve been using it to follow style blogs to populate Pinterest with pictures, but I’m thinking I might start using this tumblr to post what I scavenge from the internet according to a certain aesthetic that I find appealing, with a focus on fashion, style, food and the beautiful things. Sounds good? Any recommendations?

Q
please take more pictures! i've followed your blog since being a prospie last year and I really, really, (really) would be honored to appear on The Alderist's pages :)

Thanks :) We’ll see! Having graduated, it feels weird to take pictures on campus. Perhaps later in the spring I’ll take photos again. For now, I’m attending to “real life” things instead of taking pictures of all the pretty people.

Q
why wear those ugly orange crocs just wear flip flops

I wear crocs when I’m going kayaking because they don’t stink, they’re super light and I’ll never lose ‘em in the river since they’re bright orange! I also wear them around campus when I’m doing ceramics because glazes and clay mud quickly destroy anything else I might wear.

Graduation!

I’ve graduated with a degree in Spanish and religion and I’m no longer a student at the University of Puget Sound! So although I’ll be in Tacoma until August, taking photos on campus will be really awkward and I plan to focus my energy on becoming a productive member of society (getting a job). I’m not planning to continue photographing on campus and I figure this will be the end of the blog. However I’ll probably keep using the blog as a way to look at all the pretty pictures and interesting posts on Tumblr. I don’t really know what I’ll do with the blog as far as publishing public content….ideas?

After a year, it’s been good times and some awkward moments! Thanks for following!!!

break and all…

I’ve not been taking photos recently. Washington weather finally decided to get nasty and my jeans are still drying after being completely soaked after biking four blocks. I’m almost done with college….just 3 weeks left! I’ll post some new photos next week. Happy Thanksgiving!

Sometimes, Bon Iver is the perfect companion to a rainy evening after a couple days of incredibly beautiful autumn colors. Now, the aromas of falling leaves are being washed away by the typical NW rain.

On campus. So yeah, Halloween was fun :) Saturday night I skipped the craziness and headed to Seattle for dinner with a friend at an amazing restaurant, Spinasse. Despite Halloween being over, I really want to see more people rocking the pirate costume. Actually all the costumes are really fun and it’s a shame that Halloween doesn’t happen more often. This band was playing at Metronome and happened to be walking through campus dressed as X-men. It was great :)
